Actually, someone made a comment about Hugh’s large role in DOFP. He’s probably about the only actor who could have a part to play in both the present and the future time lines WITHOUT needing to time travel. Now I’m not saying whether he’s right or wrong, or which one is more likely, only that he raised a good point.
That is a good point, he could be located in the past to come help and that would offer a rather large part. It really depends on how they do the time travel thing… if it’s ‘mind time travel’ then it would have to be him… but if it’s physical then Kitty could go back and she’d know Logan… very interesting… but based on Singer’s love of Wolverine and the fact he was locked in before Page still makes me think Logan will be the time traveler… but we’ll see. 🙂
I’m kinda hoping the time traveller isn’t going to be Logan just ’cause most people are assuming it will be 😉
Actually, I’m the only person I’ve meet who is adament that it’s Logan… everyone else keeps thinking it’s Kitty. They do have some evidence, Singer did say Kitty fans ‘won’t be disappointed’… but unless it just took that long to get Page on board (which I think she would have been a priority and worked it out much sooner)… I dunno… just doesn’t convince me.
I’ve actually come across quite a few people who suspect it’s going to be Logan over Kitty.
Personally, I’m not going to try to read too much into casting order. There could have been any number of reasons why people were called in at the times they were. Hugh, for example, came in just as The Wolverine was finishing shooting. They could have – theoretically – opted to swoop in quickly so that he didn’t get off his Wolverine diet or signed on to do some other project or something. Heck one of the many reasons why The Wolverine was delayed was because he signed on to do Les Mis.
You do have a point, but at the same time, why would he give a ‘large’ role to both Logan and Kitty when the movie is supposed to be about X and Mags old school. Otherwise there is getting way to many cooks in the kitchen imho.
So, yeah, this is kind of one of those “it could go either way” but I’m personally more convinced of Logan, if anything because Logan’s role in the previous films.
We’ll see in a few months as set photos start to leak.
But in the actual comic we spent time in both the future and the past. Potentially we could have more than just cameos from Rogue, Bobby, and the rest. And can we really say that the movie is supposed to be about the “past” cast? They’re not even bringing in the whole First Class cast (to our knowledge).
Anyway, as you say, this could go either way. I’m not commiting myself to believing anything one way or another (although I am, perhaps foolishly, hoping for more than just a cameo for Rogue).
But they can’t translate the comic directly onto the big screen. Plus they might want to change things up.
We’ll just have to see.
