All-New X-Men #13Mystique, never change, you are so freaking awesome. I have no idea what your real end-game is but apparently you want to buy a freaking island, Madripoor no less… that’s… that’s… yeah, just don’t change, ever.

In other news that isn’t that surprising, Bendis touches on the M-Word controversy and does a better job with it than Remender did. I do like how Kitty explains the concept of “Mutant and Proud” though not in so many words. This is the kind of discussion that really needs to be done with the idea of the “M-Word” floating out there but Remender isn’t really thinking it through and seems to have just tossed the comments in for the shock factor leaving the rest of the writers to do what he should be doing (and they are doing a great job of it).

It also makes me wonder if when Kitty says that Alex doesn’t speak for her… that maybe it’s Bendis saying Remender doesn’t speak for him.

As for the rest of the story, Lady Mastermind is going to do some damage with her illusion on Jean. Lady M teaming with Mystique really was a great idea… between the two of them, I’m not sure the core X-Men team really have a chance… (though, yeah, the X-Men will win, of course, le sigh).

Uncanny X-Men #7Have I mentioned Illyana kinda scares the crap out of me?

This issue didn’t do much to levy that fear, though it did pretty much stake her claim in BAMF territory. Not only does she time travel back in time to talk to Dr Strange pre-Avengers, but she basically absorbed Limbo. Something tells me that’s not gonna end well. If anything that’s got to induce some serious heartburn…

The new recruits though had a trial by fire and are going to come out of it worse for wear. They could end up losing some of the team, dunno, but it’s nice to see one of the Stepford Cuckoos actually acting like real human teenage girl for once. And good to see Scott not trying to cover up his power malfunction as well. He admits that they all need new training.

I think the really scary part is that this all might actually work out for them since they are being open and honest with most everything, even if they really don’t want to let anyone leave.

However, one can never be too sure in an X-Men comic where things will actually go from here…

Nebula

When Den of Geek say they have a solid source, I believe they mean cast iron. Their slightly sucky team may have fallen someway behind ours in last week’s big Monsters University quiz night, but they’re certainly good guys and trustworthy.

Well, that’s the UK Den of Geek anyhow. I really can’t vouch for the US lot.

So, according to the UK Den’s new report, the characters being played by Benicio Del Toro and Karen Gillan in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy are The Collector and Nebula respectively. At the same time, they’re repeating that Lee Pace is playing Ronan the Accuser, which isn’t new news, but now, I’d say, rather solidly locked down.

Previously, we’d heard that Del Toro’s character will be in multiple Marvel movies, which kind of threw me off the scent somewhat. How will they use The Collector over and over again? I can see how he might factor into The Avengers sequel, but beyond that, I’m at a loss. For now.

We’ve also heard that Ronan the Accuser will “swap sides” as the film goes on, in keeping with his comic book legacy.

Add Nebula, the space pirate and alleged grand daughter of Thanos – though I would like to see the DNA test results, please – and I think it’s signed, sealed and on the way to the postbox that this plot line will feature the Infinity Gems.

Guardians of the Galaxy is in production in the UK now. Expect a lot more to break around the time of Comic Con.

Bryan Singer just tweeted a pic that pretty much proves they were planning on using Quicksilver since before the Whedon/Disney announcement.

Maximoff House

The big question, is this a twin living on their own or both with their mother (if they don’t make her missing/dead as is canon) or with their adoptive parents? Seeing as the actor is in his late 20s I doubt he’s playing a 15 year old so not sure he’d be living with his parents as a 20-something. It could be his own house. And if it is, would Crystal be in the picture yet?

Is this why we haven’t heard anything about Wanda? Magneto goes to his son, who is living alone (or with Crystal), to get his help, so no sister. There was talk that the team will need Quicksilver’s speed for something specific. Does this mean that the two teams are working together? Or Charles knows about Magneto’s kids? Or they just know about a super speed mutant… and coincidences happen? So many options, some more awesome than others.

As for the Maximoff cold war, it takes time to set up a location for filming, you have scouting, then getting it prepped, etc. This sequence also had to be written and if they are bothering with doing outside shots then it may be more substantial than a quick scene. Not something to be likely be written on the fly. Lastly, the rumor after First Class was that this movie would be more Magneto-centric which this would play right into and show that Quicksilver was meant from the beginning.

Still no words on whether or not Wanda will be involved at all, but let’s hope she at least gets a mention…
