Scott stood with Jean, Bobby and JP along with Cedric Doosan and Agent Duncan in a hanger next to a U.S. Marshal’s airplane which was prepping.

“Wit-sec?” the older man shook his head, “You’re talking about people who can read minds, move objects, and you think I’ll be safe in Witness Protection?”

“Wit-sec has never lost a witness who obeyed the rules,” Fred assured him, “plus those mutants heard you didn’t know anything, that might keep them off your back.”

“But, myy company,” Doosan shook his head, “I’ve lost everything.”

“Do you really want to go there?” Jean-Paul said dryly.

Doosan looked between them, “Right. Thank you, for saving me, by the way.”

“Remember that next time you just want to look the other way,” Jean was definitely not happy with the man.

“I will,” he said but would that be a sentiment he would feel tomorrow, or the next day?

Fred led the man to the plane and met up with the Marshal who would take Doosan to his new life.

“Are we really going to ask Magneto for help?” Bobby asked as they headed towards Jean’s Focus, “I mean, we’re putting a target on their back. Magneto might not treat them as sub-human, but he won’t exactly be nice either.”

“Odd’s are,” Scott had thought this over, “he already knows, he found the facility didn’t he? He’ll send people after their boss whether we say anything or not. This way…” he sighed, “this way maybe we can show that we’re serious about the mutant cause and maybe… just maybe… he’ll start to see things our way.”

“That’s a really big maybe,” JP frowned at him.

“Right now… it’s the only one we got.”

Magneto was sitting in the back of his town car when Leeds slipped inside, handing over an envelope which bore the mark of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.

“Delivered via Courier,” Leeds told him.

A little more than curious, Magneto thumbed open the sealed envelope and pulled out the sheets of paper inside. The top was a letter, not from Xavier, but Scott Summers of all people.

We know what happened at Bella-Agra, the Acolytes rescued four mutants who were being held captive by parties unknown.

Today, Cedric Doosan was attacked by three previously unknown mutants, Arclight, Blockbuster, and Vertigo. We have attached what we know of them.

Magneto flipped back to the other papers which showed some black and white surveillance photos along with stats and physical descriptions.

While we do not agree on many things, we both do not condone mutant experimentation. If you know anything about these mutants, or who they work for, then please let us know so we can deal with it in our own way….

The letter went on but Magneto frowned, once again staring at the photos.

“Arclight, Blockbuster, and Vertigo,” he said the names out loud.

“Marauders,” Leeds replied.

“Yes,” it hadn’t been a question, “but it seems as if Charles’ little group is finally seeing just how dark and deep the rabbit hole goes.”

“If they chase after the Marauders,” his assistant frowned, “then that will lead them to—“

“I know,” he sighed as he considered the information in front him, “the game board is changing, Charles is putting himself, and his students, right in the crossfire. Whatever happens next, it will be on his head.”
