“Where are they planting the bomb?” Carol nearly yelled at Azazel, cracking the wooden table under her grip.
“Those specifics I don’t know,” the man admitted, “probably some place very populated, but open enough to spread the full impact of the bomb. I would recommend using a hot hair balloon actually.”
“Well, aren’t you helpful,” Logan said dryly.
“You’re not lying to us about this?” Carol said warningly.
“Why should I?” Azazel grinned, “If I did so then that would negate my deal with the Wolverine.”
“But you are telling us everything,” the man snarled.
“I do believe they made comment about o-nine hundred hours,” Azazel said a little wishy washy, “but I don’t know if that was when the bomb was to go off or they were to meet up,” he devolved into a shrug.
“How can you sit there and not even care,” Carol was disgusted, “millions will die, humans, mutants, animals, and it’s just another day, another glass of wine.”
There was a long pause before Azazel blinked as if he hadn’t been paying attention, “I’m sorry, was there a point?”
“Forget him,” Logan put his arm on Carol’s shoulder, “we need to get to Kansas City.”
“Yes,” Ororo said as she stood, staring down at the grinning Devil, “though I do not know who is the greater evil: those who would do such things, or those who would sit back and let them.”
…
It was dark when a van pulled up outside a warehouse. There was no guard, just a punch code system, so a hand reached out and inputted the code.
The gate dragged across and the van drove through, heading around the building to a loading dock in the back. Making a three-point turn, the van backed against a dock which started to open.
Several men came out, a few jumping off the dock and one heading over to the driver’s side.
“You’re not Frank,” the man said.
“Frankie had a thing,” Avalanche repeated the lie, “said he’d give me thirty percent if I did this drop off and didn’t ask any questions.
“Did he now?” the man frowned but at least he didn’t immediately pull his gun, “Step out.”
“Whatever,” Avalanche looked disinterested as he did so.
The men opened the back of the van and found what they were expecting, two gurney’s with a man and a woman tied down on them, unconscious. The woman had noticeable red streaks in her hair while the man had spikey yellowy-red, like fire.
While the others kept a watch and pulled out the gurney’s onto the dock, the man dialed a number on his phone.
“Frank,” he said as it picked up, “what’s this about sending someone in your stead?” there was a short pause, “I don’t care if your mother died, next time, you clear this with me.”
Dom watched as the two mutants were rolled into the building, trying not to look interested in what was going on.
“Yeah, whatever,” the guy hung up and looked at Dom, “Frank gets the money, you want yours, you talk to him.”
“Got it,” Dom nodded.
“And if you ever talk about what you saw here,” there was no thinly veiled threats between them, “then you’ll both pay.”
“Got that too,” Dom wasn’t really bothered by the threat and let it show.
“Now get out of here,” the guy waved him off and headed back towards the dock.
Dom climbed back into the van as the guys shut the doors, patting it to show he was clear. Turning over the engine, he easily put it into drive and headed off back towards the gate… leaving his teammates inside, hoping the plan would work.
