We have yet another reveal via twitter from Bryan Singer regarding Days of Future Past.
An extra munches at the Craft Services table in Trask Industries coveralls. This absolutely confirms that Trask will be a thing in DOFP, so likely Bolivar Trask himself will make an appearance, if not be the major villain. Unless of course this is just a ‘fan service insert’ used to throw us off track. Somehow I doubt that as Trask and the Sentinel program are two major of players in the X-Men mythos, not to mention the comic arc which this is based on, that it wouldn’t make sense for them not to be in the films.
Speculation has run that Peter Dinkledge will be playing Bolivar Trask and this certainly helps that assessment. We’ve yet to see Peter on set to see what kind of costume or wardrobe he is wearing.
I want to also note the color of the company logo. Purple… just like the Sentinels. And doesn’t it kinda look like a robot face? Looks like big purple robots are in our future…
Well, they did have that Sentinel program in the DR in X3. And in X2 when Mystique was getting into the computer to get the information on the security guards and found out about Cerebro, there was also a reference to “Project Wideawake” on the desktop 🙂
Now, if only I could suspend my disbelief long enough to give giant mutant hunting robots credit. Human-sized robots I can credit. No problems with Nimrod. But giant ones? Really? REALLY? 😉
I was kinda hoping the DR session was just fan service, lol, but yeah, it’s movie canon legit for them to be there… they just don’t make any sense in the modern world.
This is why I made them an A.I. 😉
It quite possibly was just intended as fan service. But at the same time there’s no reason why Singer can’t build on such moments. I know that’s where half the fun is in writing fanfic: building off the established stories.
There was talk by Singer about using CGI like he did in Jack the Giant Slayer, big massive effects… such as Sentinels… so… yeah… I’m thinking it’s more than just fan service.
Umm… I meant that the DR session in X3 was probably fan service, since that was the only time they appeared in that movie. Sentinels in DOFP would definitely not be fan service.
Ah, okay, I get ya…
