So a bunch of news outlets including Cinema Blend are reporting that Patrick Stewart could be reprising his role as Professor X in the new X-Men Days of Future Past movie. While this actually makes logical sense in that it’s probably going to involve time travel (hopefully as a way to reboot the series and fix so much that went wrong…) I’m not sure if this is a good idea.

I mean, it worked to have Nimoy in the Star Trek reboot but it was a cold start reboot. We’ve already been introduced to the new X-Men cast and had our required cameo (Wolvie), so why keep bogging us down with the past? Dur, it is Days of Future Past, but still…

Top this on the fact that Days is a Kitty-centric storyline what with her being the one going into her past body from the future… and Kitty not being even born in First Class (well, one would think considering the age of Prof and Mags) and of course Wolvie isn’t going to be there either…

I am getting seriously worried about this movie… but then I was worried about First Class and it turned out to be the best X-Men movie so far… who knows?

Thanks to Bleeding Cool, and several other news outlets, we have the first official image from The Wolverine sporting Hugh Jackman as the titular character.

A friend of mine pointed out that they seem to be going away from Wolvie’s trademarks. The swept back hair went away in Origins: Wolverine (which could be explained by it being an ‘early’ Wolvie story) but now his sideburns have seem to gone too. So this is becoming less Wolverine and more Guy with Shiny Toothpicks.

Also, I love Hugh, I do, but he’s showing his age here and no amount of airbrushing abs and veins can cover that.

Bleeding Cool pointed out that the Avengers movie has been edited for the UK and a few other European DVD releases.

Have a look-see, though you might have to go to the original site to see this:

It’s like one of those games on the back of the paper place mat at the fast food restaurant. But really, it’s kinda hard not to see the big spike sticking out (or not sticking out) of Coulson’s chest.

Why did they do this? There are a few theories but nothing flys.

It can’t be ‘censorship’ because the UK is way more forgiving than the US in these kinds of things.

It can’t be ‘reconning’ Coulson’s death because not all dvd’s have had this done.

It can’t be an accident either because, well, you’d have to literally go in and take this out. Then someone would have to put the wrong file into the machine to make these discs. I don’t really know how dvd’s are made but I assume that like most production stuff, if this was a mistake on the production end then not all UK discs would have the mistake.

Until we hear from Marvel, this remains a pretty interesting mystery…

That is exactly the question io9 has asked and seems there is a lot of rumor going around. This could be pretty cool. Viggo is a great actor but he didn’t seem to stand out like he should have after the LOTR series. Perhaps taking on a character that is very much unlike Aragon, yet is just as large as life, he can show himself to be the virsatile actor that he is. Here’s hoping!

EDIT: Nope, he won’t, sux!

Added bonus, Jamie Alexander kicking butt! And other images from Thor 2.

I wonder if she has the urge to say “I’m on a horse!”….

io9.com posted a great article called Weird Secrets of The Avengers That You’d  Never Have Guessed. Totally worth a read if you like this kind of behind the scenes info.

3. When the Hulk is smashing Loki up and down, they inserted Tom Hiddleston’s real agonized face.
This took a lot of shooting of Hiddleston looking pained, so they could paste it into the digital Loki. “We’re not inventing how he looks when he’s in pain,” says Chu. “I had to get behind [Tom Hiddleston] and shake him violently,” so they could capture his real expressions. (He mimes violent shaking.) “I did it so long, he started laughing. So we didn’t use that portion.” And for one brief shot where Loki is just hanging upside down, they still had to cut Loki’s face from somewhere else and stick it in, flipped the opposite direction.

Bleeding Cool and other outlets are reporting that another Wonder Woman live action tv series is in the works after David E. Kelly’s NBC attempt ended in a no-go pilot.

This time CW is looking into it and going the Smallville and Arrow route of going with a young character rather than adult. This has a lot of potential, actually. CW did a good job with Smallville (though yes, it’s debatable on whether or not that show was any good after the first couple of series) and the jury is out on Arrow until it actually airs, but some of it looks promising.

Considering that Wonder Woman doesn’t have a really diverse and memorable rogue’s gallery so having this be a young WW means that they can explore a lot more than just “badguy of the week” and develop new enemies. And as a bonus, they can go the Smallville route and avoid the costume, at least for a bit, because, well, as they said about the X-Men in the movies… you can drawl that stuff on a character, but you can’t put it on a person.

I don’t really know a lot about WW, never really read her, but concept wise, I think this has a lot more promise than Kelly’s. We’ll have to see where they go with it in the next few months.

ComicBookMovie.com has new images from Thor 2 posted. I liked Thor though it’s towards the bottom of my list regarding the Phase One movies.  Though I did fall in love with Loki… hehehehe

Marvel NOW! is shaking up the Marvel universe and according to the reports, the Avengers main team has a new lineup:

Captain America, Captain Marvel, Cannonball, The Hulk, Wolverine, Black Widow, Falcon, Thor, Sunspot, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Hawkeye, and one mystery guest.

So Cannonball and Sunspot are getting their Avengers stripes… along with Rogue and Havok who will be joining the Avengers in Uncanny Avengers.

I need to do some checking, but I think that before NOW!, the X-Men outnumbered the Avengers… so this could be a smart move to help make the X-Men more manageable, and it’s a lot smarter plan than just turning a bunch of them into humans.

More images have been released for Jackson’s latested Wolvie film… The Wolverine.  Courtesy of ComicBookMovie.com.

I just want to point out that I predicted Hiroyuki Sanada being cast as Shingen months ago when I started writing X-Men: Among Thieves… just saying… :p
