DOFP: Promotional Images

According to BleedingCool, “the official X-Men: Days Of Future Past tumblr prematurely published and swiftly deleted a series of character headshots showing a whole host of mutants”

Here they are below:

What do we learn?

Wolverine: Well, as has been pointed out on Tumblr and other places, future Wolverine is sporting the iconic gray stripes in his hair and possible iconic yellow jumpsuit. It does look like stretchy yellow spandex… I doubt though that he’s wearing a full yellow jumpsuit, I would wager it’s just a top which hints greatly at his iconic uniform, like the brown leather jacket with yellow stripes. Unfortunately the image is cropped too much to know for sure what he’s wearing, or what’s going on in the background, lots of glow.

Xavier/Magneto/Colossus: They seem to be wearing the same uniform, just a bit different to mark the personalities of the different characters. It definitely looks like armor, similar to what Storm was wearing in her tweeted sneak peak. But Kitty and Bobby don’t seem to be wearing the armor/uniform in their sneaky peak (for that matter neither does Wolvie here either). I’m not sure what this means, why they aren’t  all matched up, if they were all mis-matched, okay, but only a few are? Could they have been in a different resistance squad or maybe they were separated then found by the group in order to use Kitty’s powers? The difference in outfits could mean something, could mean nothing…

Bishop: Looks like Bishop, dreadlocks, scar, red sash thingy… no complaints here. But I’m not sure about the ridges on his shoulder, or if his armor is supposed to match the other’s uniform. Could this has something to do with Bobby and Kitty’s non-matching outfits? Different squads? Or maybe the X-Men have broken up?

Beast: They’ve cleaned it up a bit, but he’s still in the yellow striped jumpsuit from the first movie. Will we see the others in their jumpsuits too?

Rogue: We’re getting a lot of peaks at the future cast, and if I miss my guess, we’ve seen everyone (except Rogue) from the original cast (that we know is going to be in the film). We’ve even had looks at the new ‘big names’ like Bishop here… so… why haven’t we had a sneak of Rogue? It’s possible Anna hasn’t done her filming yet, there is still two months-ish left to go… but with everyone else from the future timeline getting their scenes out of the way… how’s this going to work? Simple movie magic? Is her role just not that big and it’ll be filmed later? Or is there a greater plot afoot…

DOFP: Bishop, Warpath, and Powerless Rogue?

Brian Singer posted a little video on his twitter account and it shows the cast chairs, only they are listed by mutant instead of actor. His comment is : “Every mutant needs a place to sit”

  • Logan
  • Xavier
  • Magneto
  • Storm
  • Bishop
  • Kitty Pride
  • Bobby “Iceman” Drake
  • Peter “Colossus” Rasputin
  • Blink
  • James “Warpath” Proudstar

What do we learn from this?

1) BISHOP!! Since Omar Sy was listed among the cast I knew he had to be playing Bishop. It only made sense considering the storylines that was being used. With him being confirmed in the cast I really want to say that Bishop is the time traveller, but it’s possible that there could be two travellers, Logan and Bishop.

2) Warpath. This character was created by Chris Claremont but never had any connection to the DOFP storyline or Apocalypse (like Blink has a tentative connection). My guess is this is who Booboo Stewart is going to be playing and I don’t think it will be that big of a role in the scheme of things.

3) Rogue. Where is Rogue? Seriously… ROGUE?!?!!? He does say “Every mutant” and every character on that list is known for sure to still hold Mutant status at the end of X3 (Mag’s cure wore off) so does this mean that Rogue’s cure didn’t wear off? Or is this a case of Bryan trolling us?

4) Mystique. Right now they seem to be filming all the future stuff by the other screen shots he’s given us so is Mystique also still cured in the future? Or is she simply not around? Unlike Rogue who can only exist in the future part of the movie, Mystique could be dead/gone in the future and it be okay because we still have her for the ‘present time’.

5) Order. Again, Logan is put before Magneto and Xavier just like on the casting board which just feeds my thought that he’s the time traveller (or one of them now that Bishop is confirmed). But everyone else is a bit out of order from that casting board except Colossus, Blink and Warpath are still at the end. The rest in the middle are a bit jumbled up. Was there purpose to this order just how the chairs got lined up? I’m inclined to think that he put at least a little thought into this.

6) Name game. Why does some of these guys go just by their Mutant name (Storm), some just by their Human name (Logan) and others by both (Bobby “Iceman” Drake)? Is this some way of separating the future and past selves between the actors or are Stewart and McAvoy going to be sharing seats since they won’t film at the same time? Or is it just how the seats got printed up?

DOFP adds Omar Sy

Omar SyBryan Singer announced on twitter that Omar Sy from The Intouchables has been added to the Days of Future Past cast.

Of course, he doesn’t say who Omar will be playing and all the media sites I’ve been to aren’t hazarding a guess (probably because of getting Peter Dinklage all wrong before).

I’m going to go ahead and throw out there my thoughts… and that’s that Omar will be playing non other than Bishop. And I have other reasons to believe this than simply the fact that he looks like Bishop only (thankfully) without the mullet.

While Bishop didn’t have anything to do with the Days of Future Past comic, the adaptation of the story line into the 90s X-Men: The Animated Series had Bishop as the time traveler instead of Kitty Pryde (and it wasn’t ‘mind travel’ but full body travel). Bishop has also been a fairly popular character in the past, not big enough to lead his own film, but a perfect addition to a movie based around the idea of time traveling.

If Omar is indeed Bishop, then I’ll have to start rethinking if Wolvie will be the time traveler as it could easily (and more likely) be Bishop… or maybe there is going to be more than one time traveler?
