“I’ve not spoken to Mark Millar at all. He’s not involved. I don’t know what his  role is about. All I know is that I have my own specific beliefs about how to  take this universe forward. I started with the first X-Men, then First Class and  now I am combining them and I think it could go further than that and I have  some ideas about that, so perhaps he should chat to me at some point.” –He was the one saying Kitty Pryde would have a big screen role, seems he was talking too much again. James Mangold tweets Inspiration

James Mangold, director of highly anticipated (by me at least) The Wolverine, tweeted on Saturday: “I’m posting images from films that inspired / influenced THE WOLVERINE. Name the movies. Even better, go see them.”

This is quite the collection of classic Western and Kung Fu cinema, with some of these being the very definition of art-house film. This is not the usual fare for a Superhero movie, even a Nolan-verse film, but it’s very fitting for classic Wolverine. In fact, some of these images seem to come straight from the pages of 1980s Wolverine comics.

The first trailer for The Wolverine will be shown on the G.I. Joe 2 movie March 29th and we’ll get our first look at the tone of the film. I really can’t wait!

I also can’t get over the fact how much Eastwood looks like Logan in this still from The Outlaw Josey Wales…

If I had mad-photoshop-skills I’d totally replace those guns with claws… it’s just so uncanny!

DOFP adds Omar Sy

Omar SyBryan Singer announced on twitter that Omar Sy from The Intouchables has been added to the Days of Future Past cast.

Of course, he doesn’t say who Omar will be playing and all the media sites I’ve been to aren’t hazarding a guess (probably because of getting Peter Dinklage all wrong before).

I’m going to go ahead and throw out there my thoughts… and that’s that Omar will be playing non other than Bishop. And I have other reasons to believe this than simply the fact that he looks like Bishop only (thankfully) without the mullet.

While Bishop didn’t have anything to do with the Days of Future Past comic, the adaptation of the story line into the 90s X-Men: The Animated Series had Bishop as the time traveler instead of Kitty Pryde (and it wasn’t ‘mind travel’ but full body travel). Bishop has also been a fairly popular character in the past, not big enough to lead his own film, but a perfect addition to a movie based around the idea of time traveling.

If Omar is indeed Bishop, then I’ll have to start rethinking if Wolvie will be the time traveler as it could easily (and more likely) be Bishop… or maybe there is going to be more than one time traveler?
