We have the reveal of the official Man of Steel one-sheet poster.

First off, what’s up with the lens flare? Was there not enough on the Star Trek Into Darkness poster so they decided to pick up the slack? And what the heck, Supes cuffed? Obviously he is allowing himself to be imprisoned… but why?

Perhaps if the trailer wasn’t so un-Superman tonaly we might be able to read some kind of noble ‘self sacrifice’ from this… but instead it’s just more ‘oh, let’s be all dark and gritty!’ instead of, you know, having an actual Superman movie.

Superman Returns was too soft. Man of Steel is going to be too hard. We are Goldilocks waiting for something just right…

Hugh Jackman joins Stewart and McKellen in reprising their roles for Days of Future Past according to CinemBlend. This was almost a given seeing as Jackman was in First Class and the immortal-ish nature of his character means he can fit anywhere.

I still think he would be a good fit for the time-traveller since, again, he’s old enough to be in both places, but at the same time I don’t want another Wolverine movie. That is what made First Class such a breath of fresh air, it wasn’t “the Wolverine” show like the first three movies.

No word yet on any of the other cast. Famke was apparently up for it in Wolverine so if they call I’m sure she’ll be right there. Paquin just had a kid and got a good thing going on TV so she may not be up for it. I don’t think anyone else of note is doing anything big right now so could see Bobby, Kitty, Beast, etc.

As much as this is cool though, I really want to see this whole thing rebooted so we can have one kick butt Rogue… yes… I do have a one track mind.

CinemaBlend reports that Matthew Vaughn likely left Days of Future Past to work on a Mark Miller adaptation called The Secret Service. Since Mark Miller is in charge of FOX’s comic-book-movie franchises it looks like he wasted no time getting his own project up and running.

From CinemaBlend:

Bryan Singer, who has agreed to return to the X-Men franchise to helm Days after Matthew Vaughn walked away, took to Twitter to share that Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen would be in the planned film, reprising their roles as Prof. X and Magneto.

Of course, this doesn’t saw whether they will be cameos or have any real depth. Hugh Jackman had a cameo in First Class so a similar instance may occur in Days of Future Past, likely when whoever goes back in time goes back in time. (I still don’t think it will be Kitty, ages don’t fit).

Now, there is also the little issue of Xavier being dead, maybe, not really sure, depends on how you want to read the Easter Egg on Last Stand (plus it’s not like he hasn’t died and come back before, canon wise). But then of course Jean is also dead and apparently she’s making a cameo in The Wolverine (which since it hasn’t been categorically denied by now lends to the very likelihood that a cameo was shot).

This news is another piece that leaves me feeling neutral. Either this could make things that much better or that much worse… all depends on how it plays out.

According to CinemaBlend who keeps track of these things way better than I do… Kevin Feige who directed Iron Man 3 says that the movie isn’t really all that serious.

“It’s not a serious movie, but we seriously dig into exploring more of Tony. The trick is just trying to make great movies. We try to make them all great, all different and all fresh. What you’ll see in Iron Man 3 is some very unique directions that were taken.”

The smart guys at CinemaBlend point out the movie Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, Feige’s other work, which touched on a lot of serious subjects but was a comedy (I didn’t find it all that hilarious, it had its moments).

And do the marketing guys know about this because from the trailer it looked to be pretty darn dark and gritty. Since the only thing I really like gritty are my grits… I’m not sure if I should be pleased at this statement from Feige because while it means we’ll have some in Iron Man 3… his ideas of ‘unique directions’ could end up making me *headdesk* the seats in front of me.

CinemaBlend posted an article about what Chris Hemsworth had to say to MTV about the upcoming Thor: The Dark World movie.

The look of the film is a lot bigger than what we did even previously. The first one worked and people loved it, but this is with a different director and just has a totally different feel. There’s a definite “Game of Thrones” vibe thanks to [director] Alan [Taylor].

Now, I don’t watch Game of Thrones but I do know that it’s pretty gritty, lots of horrible deaths, etc. As a rule I generally don’t care for this style, I don’t mind realism and angst but “drama” (with the finger quotes) and gritty are a current fad I wish would go away.

That being said, this is a Marvel/Disney movie so I doubt he could have gone too terribly far off the reservation from the original story.

Besides, Loki, to me, was the best part of Thor so… yeah… Taylor can do whatever with Thor just so long as Loki gets to be… well… Loki…

UPDATE: Earlier reports were wrong, there will be no trailer or footage till early 2013, bummer.

The Wolverine’s trailer will debut with The Hobbit, and of course will show up online not to long after then. The movie is being described as ‘japanese noir with tentpole action’. This… could actually work.

Thanks to ComicBookMovie.com for the heads up.

Not that anyone is surprised, but it’s been confirmed via ComicBookMovie.com that there will be no more Green Lantern movies until at least 2016 (probably not then either).

Again, are we surprised at all by this? Didn’t think so.
